Interior Design for Bedroom

I’m often awestruck that for 20 years projects seem to flow from one to the next considering I don’t really advertise. Perhaps I do advertise in the way that I work and how I do what I do. What I’m grateful for and humbled by is that in the 20 years of practicing interior design, the people that I get to share my gifts with are so AWESOME! This project is no exception. And what’s really nice about this mutual respect and admiration is that ideas and creativity get to flow making the process and the outcome really beautiful.

The Little Details

The "feeling tone"

To create anything, I get into the “feeling tone” of what the end goal is to be. For this project, that “feeling tone” was signature harmony: restful yet energizing, gracious yet not over the top, accommodating yet with appropriate restraint and of course beautiful.
Getting attention

How anything is experienced is based on choices. Since the bed is the main feature in a bedroom, choosing a bed and bedding characteristic of the set “feeling tone” is key. Selecting a winged bed frame in a soft neutral that’s textured and with a touch of elegance in the polished nail heads studded around the silhouette was the perfect stage for bedding ensemble of a neural color with some vibrancy that’s full and layered so as to command first attention in the space.
The right perspective

In this room, the walk through closet had been created by using less than ⅓ of the room making the wall the bed is positioned against, the closet wall and adding two doors on opposite ends for access. While this works nicely, I immediately felt changing the style of the doors to the closet from solid to having a privacy glass would better integrate the spaces so as to get a sense of the rooms original expanse. And it did just that.
Completing the look

Choosing the right light fixture for a space is like choosing the perfect earrings for an outfit. While there are tons of choices there is typically one that perfectly completes the look. For this room that would be making the choice to use this starburst flush mount from Global Views. It brings in the “wow” without too much fanfare.
